France telecom Altice — which in May made its first move to enter the U.S. market — aims to merge with that country’s No. 3 wireless firm, continuing an M&A tear that stretches from Europe to the U.S.
Altice, which already owns French cable TV operator Numericable and wireless firm SFR, on Monday made an offer to buy France’s No. 3 wireless firm, Bouygues Telecom. The deal could face regulatory hurdles.
Bouygues Telecom’s parent group Bouygues said its board would meet on Tuesday to discuss what it called Altice’s “unsolicited offer.”
